Due to the intensive development of smartphone applications, we can use our smartphone as a multipurpose device. Its application can be from as simple as a torch or a calculator, to a medical diagnosis device. In this post, I am going to share with you a way to use your smartphone as an effective presentation tool, i.e. a wireless microphone and controller, for your business or presentation. These tools do not require an internet connect, but you need to use your laptop as a hotspot for your smartphone.
Wireless microphone
There are abundant free microphone applications in the market. WO Mic is the first application that I am trying. Since I only download its free version, then, cannot be denied, 'attacked' by advertisement is unavoidable. To try this application, I only need to install WO Mic in my android smart phone and its Windows interface (WO Mic Client) to my laptop. WO Mic Client can be obtained from its official webpage.
After that, you can turn on your computer as hotspot via the following code in your command prompt with administrator's right.
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=NAME key=PASSWORD
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
NOTE: NAME is the name of your hotspot, and PASSWORD is the password of your hotspot. Thus, please change them according to your need.
To turn on your hotspot immediately, you can put this code in a notepad, and then change the extension from .txt to .bat. After that, you can turn on your hotspot by right clicking the file and click on "Run as administrator".
After that, in your computer/laptop, open your WO Mic Client, and then click on "Connection" -> "Connect...". At the prompt out box, select Wi-Fi and make sure the IP address is the same as that in your smartphone. Then, you should be able to use your smartphone as a wireless microphone.
Wireless PowerPoint controller
Again, there are lots of free Wifi Mouse applications available in the market. The one I use here is named "Wifi Mouse". The procedure is generally similar as the wireless microphone.
First, download the application on your smartphone and then its server in your computer or laptop. After that, please ensure your hotspot is turned on if you do not have internet in your area. Then, please turn on both application and its server in your smartphone and laptop, respectively. After that, you should be able to control your pointer remotely via your smartphone.
SummaryAs you can see, by using a wired microphone that connected to your smartphone, you can control your presentation slide via touching the screen of your smartphone, and send your voice to the speaker that connected to your laptop from your smartphone.
Since all the tools are free, please do not compare the performance to professional presentation tools that available in the market. That's all for today.
