Spot and Remove Spam Reply to Increase the Quality of your Websites

Personally, I always manually delete spam replies because they simply degrade the quality of reader's experience on my Blog. In this post, I share my experience to deal with spam reply and list some examples in the footnote of this post.

Spot a Spam Reply

Spam reply is a reply that can be used repetitively in different website so that the "spam action" can be accelerated. A reply will be considered as Spam must fulfill at least two criteria: First, it is quite general; and Second, it contains advertising purpose (re-direct link).  The core idea of spam reply is to put a link in your website so that the number of "external link" of the spammer's website can be increased.

We can easily spot spam replies because they are too general and, even irrelevant to a topic of the content.

The Tricks of Spam Reply

In order to avoid to be removed or deleted by webmaster instantly, spammers tend to praise the content of the post (some examples are stated in the footnotes). Although it could make webmasters think twice for removing a compliment reply, webmaster should eventually remove it. This is because a compliment from a spammer is fake, worthless and meaningless.

Solution to Reduce Spam Replies

One solution to reduce the number of spam replies is to make sure only register user can reply. Register users are unnecessary the users who register with you. Register users can be users who sign-in their openID or other accounts (such as social network or email account) before posting a reply. Although spammers also will use these register account to spam you, you can report these accounts as spam to degrade the reputation of the spammers' accounts.

In short, webmasters must take some necessary actions to punish those speculators (spammers) to maintain the quality of websites. That's all for today. More fascinating articles and sharing will be updated from time to time in Xaivier Blog.
