1. Location of the kitchen
Kitchen, as the heart of the house, plays a vital part of feng shui since it is usually where people establish a positive qi. Prohibitions of kitchen location include never place the kitchen at a location where you can see it right after you enter the front door and it cannot also be seen from your bedroom.
2. Figure out the lighting
Another essential area in feng shui is lighting. Areas inside the house that is not brightened with natural light are places to be considered. Owners' preferences about lighting should always be conveyed to architect or contractor so that they will cover and follow them correctly.
3. Balanced space for each family member
It is recommended to establish balance in space of house, such as in the case of kids' bedrooms, by making 2 or more bedrooms in the same size. This will avoid unnecessary fights over bigger room, while also establish equal love among the children and the rest of the family.
4. Know the basics of feng shui
The basics and other aspects of Feng Shui should be familiarized. This includes the concept of Ba-Gua (a tool that analyzes the energy of a certain space in feng shui), the interaction of the five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal and water), the feng shui way wherein a certain direction such as South, which is connected to the element Fire, has its incorporated colors (red, orange and pink). Mix-ups of colors and elements will result in weakening of energy in certain area of the house and so should be avoided.
